Have you ever wondered how an author creates characters in books? Have you ever been so transfixed with the narrative of a book that you wonder how the author could think of such? Have you ever wondered about the ease with which the narrative flows seamlessly? Have you wondered what it entails to create a story from conception till a detailed version?

On the 20th of December 2015, the Lagos Mainland Book club will be hosting four seasoned authors who are prepared to share what goes on in their minds. It is going to be a mind blowing session as they will answer all your questions as well as impart knowledge. The authors gracing the event as panelists are Dr Eghosa Imasuen, Toni Kan, Uche Okonkwo and our very own, Pemi Aguda.
Eghosa Imasuen is a Nigerian writer and medical doctor. He is the author of To Saint Patrick and Fine Boys, published by the Farafina imprint of Kachifo Ltd, publishers of the Nigerian editions of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s novels. He was the senior editor of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s book My Watch and he is currently the Chief operating officer of Farafina imprint. He is extremely brilliant and passionate about books and African writing.
Anthony Kan Onwordi known as Toni Kan is a Nigerian writer, editor, public relations senior management executive, and teacher. He is author of the collection of short stories, Nights of a Creaking Bed, noted for exploring themes on African sexuality, and published by Cassava Republic (Nigerian publishers of writers such as Teju Cole). He was the winner of the NDDC/Ken Saro Wiwa literature prize, awarded by the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), in 2009.
A 2013 Etisalat Prize for Literarure flash fiction category winner, Uche Okonkwo has an MA in Creative Writing from the University of Manchester, UK. Her short stories have been published in print anthologies and online. Uche lives in Lagos, Nigeria, where she once worked as an editor at a small publishing firm. She currently divides her time between writing fiction, and writing and editing freelance. She shares some of her writing on her blog, and is working on a collection of short stories.
Pemi Aguda writes short stories and flash fiction. Her stories have appeared in The Kalahari Review, Black Fox Literary Magazine, Prufrock Magazine, The Wrong Quarterly and the TNC anthology These Words Expose Us among others. Her short story “Caterer, Caterer” won the 2015 Writivism Short Story Prize; published in Munyori Journal and the Roses for Betty anthology.
