While having a conversation on the ideal man’s characteristics with a group of young ladies, one of them unapologetically said ‘I must marry into money, no buts and no adjustments, if he doesn’t have a proper bank account that can give me the life I want then I will not consider him.’
Well it’s now 8 days to valentine’s day and the last time I really spoke to Tunde was 2 weeks ago. He has gotten very distant and I am wondering what I could have possibly done wrong.
I am in no way preaching marital infidelity nor moral decadence, far from it. Instead, I am dealing with a situation that already exists. John Legend, who is not a doctor, covered this subject years earlier in his song Number One where he croons the following romantic lyrics, “You can’t say I don’t love you, Just because I cheat on you, Cuz you can’t see all I do, To keep you from knowing the things I do, Like erase my phone, And keep it out of town, I keep it strapped up when I sleep around.”

At the end of the day, this goes to prove the saying of not drinking panadol for another man’s headache. Often times when friends come to rant to me about their man drama, I am quite slow to react or feed their anger with man-bashing insults because I know when and if they do get back with the man in question, I end up looking like the enemy of progress who is beefing that they have a man and I probably don’t.
Believe it or not, the Nigerian dating scene does not support fidelity. Yes I said it! Any single young woman who is madly in love with one guy that isn’t her husband is considered stupid by friends and even family.
I’m not saying people should carry placards with their checklists or deal breakers listed; all I’m saying is every once in a while let a brother or sister know what they have to do to please you.
I am personally not a huge fan of public displays of affection online or offline, I tolerate it but only to an extent. In my opinion some things should be left private and not for the eyes of the world to see, that’s why you have DMs and private messages on these sites.
